The urban – development plan presented by Miguel Mart\u00edn – Fern\u00e1ndez de la Torre (1922 –
\n1930) offered a solution to the division of urban settlements and the disorder that had been generated until
\nthat point. He brought together the Old Town (Vegueta – Triana) with the New Town, neighbourhoods that
\nemerged from the development of the \u2018Puerto de la Luz\u2019 port as the main economic driving force for the city<\/p>\n
